QR Code Print Ordering

QR print ordering is a contactless intake method. A customer scans the counter QR code with their phone camera, a page opens in their normal mobile browser, and their file goes into your live print queue. They never install an app, never create an account, and never hand over their phone number.

What the QR code actually is

A QR code contains text, and nothing more. The code on your counter holds a web address that identifies your shop. That is its entire job. No file is transferred at scan time — the scan is a browser navigation, which is why the same printed code keeps working indefinitely and a customer can re-scan it on a different day.

The four steps

1. Scan. The customer points their camera at the code and taps the notification. A page opens in Chrome, Safari or Firefox.
2. Upload. They pick files from their phone. PDF, JPG, JPEG and PNG are accepted, up to 300 MB per file and 50 MB per job. Progress is shown, so an interrupted transfer is visible and retryable rather than a silent failure.
3. Configure. They set colour or black and white, copies, single or double sided, and a page range. The cost is calculated from your rates before they commit.
4. Print. The job reaches your queue in arrival order with the specification attached. You print it from the browser dashboard, the Android app, or the Windows desktop agent.

What customers give up, and what they get

• Gives up: a phone number, an app install, and a file transfer that can fail silently on a weak connection.
• Gets: a receipt for their own order, a price they can see before committing, and the ability to queue from a seat instead of standing at the counter.

That trade is usually accepted easily, which is why adoption at most counters happens through convenience rather than instruction. The single most effective thing you can do is put one line of plain text next to the code — "Scan to upload your file" — because most customers are not refusing to scan, they have simply never been told they can.

Printing the code so it works

• Print at least 3 cm square. 5 cm costs nothing extra and is more forgiving on older phones and awkward angles.
• Use a light, matte background. Glossy stock and dark colours both reduce contrast and cause scan failures.
• Add plain instruction text next to it. A bare code on a wall gets ignored.
• Print several and place them in more than one spot: the door, the counter, and the rate board.
• Never overlay the code on a photograph or pattern. Contrast is what the camera reads.
